I had become aware of a gorgeous Siberian Husky who had run out of time in the Iowa kill-shelter where he was being held. I adopted him to save him, and figured I'd work out transportation to Oregon afterwards. Meanwhile, the winter weather was awful in the midwest, and it was flooding in the Northwest. Travel was disrupted everywhere. There was no way to fly. I had just started a new job and couldn't take the days off to do the round trip myself. Rescue transport groups needed at least two weeks to organize a trip that long, but I only had 5 days to get him out of the shelter. As my options were running out, I discovered USHIP. I posted "Rescue Husky Needs a Ride" and within a day or so, Leroy from lbtransport responded to my bid. He had a great rating so I felt comfortable hiring him. He was FANTASTIC! He worked with me and several people in Iowa to arrange to pick up my new dog and get him to Oregon. He had to change his schedule to do this and was very accommodating. He took great care of Bosco along the way, and Bosco was delivered to me in record time. I think the whole thing took 3 or 4 days total! AMAZING! I know there are alot of people who would have tried to take advantage of a situation like this and I did get offers from people who couldn't provide references and had no reputation. I was not comfortable with that. But, Leroy's rating was 100% positive, with 71 jobs on his record. That was the kind of assurance I needed! In addition, his bid was very reasonable and I know I saved at least $500 by not having to do it myself, or contract a pet transportation company. THANK-YOU USHIP! Next time I need anything transported, I will go to USHIP first!
