Our family dog, a 70 pound labrador, needed to visit our college student who lost a roommate. Get it -- the labrador would become the new roommate. Question: how do you get the dog there?
Airlines are a no go, very expensive and limited access, particularly for any dog other than a "purse dog." Uship was the answer and I am grateful for the recommendation that came from a veterinary website (I wish I could remember which one).
We posted our request with suggested dates for travel and received bids, many with more details than you could imagine, like how our dog would travel, hotel overnight, regular phone updates, etc. Our selected provider couldn't have been more professional and sensitive to our concern about attempting to ship our pet. Awesome! And, our college student is a happy camper with her pet to keep her company.
In the dollars and sense catergory -- uship did make sense because of the individual service we received and dollars, well, to air crate our pet was going to cost $1,200 to 1,400 and uship door-to-door deliver was $250, exclusive of gratuity.
Job well done. Thank you for the service. Problem solved.
