I basically run an animal rescue for cats/kittens. A wonderful family up in the Bay Area wanted to adopt a specific kitten I had for their son who was having a birthday in 4 days, and they really wanted the kitten there for the celebration. Time was of the essence and I was uncertain just how I was going to get the kitten from So. CA all the way up to the Bay Area in 4 days or less! Luckily, I happened to stumble across U-Ship. I generated a listing noting the urgency of this shipment. Much to my surprise, the next morning there were 3 responses to my listing, 2 of which were bids! One of the bids explained the guy was coming through my area that afternoon, could pickup the kitten at that time and get it to the Bay Area by the following day...at an EXTREMELY reasonable bid! Sounded great to me, but I needed to contact the adopting family first to ensure this would work for them. Now down to just hours before the guy was coming through my area, I was having trouble contacting the adopting family...oh yeah, and did I mention I also had to work that day! I work in the construction industry, which means I'm at a jobsite, not behind a desk with a phone, and since I don't have a cell phone that meant I had to bounce back and forth between the jobsite and home, trying to reach the adopting family! Alas, with about 30 - 40 minutes before the guy was coming through my area, I finally got in touch with the adopting family, they gave me the green light, I accepted the bid, the shipper immediately called me and said he'd be at my house within 20-30 minutes to pickup the kitten...yikes! Rushing around my house, I somehow managed to get the kitten and his essentials pulled together for the trip just as the shipper arrived! Everything went as planned and the kitten was delivered to the adopting family the very next day, on time, happy, healthy and virtually stress-free!
