I needed to ship 8 motorcycles from NY to Va to get them on a ship to Iceland where I live. I had been shopping around for transport but all the prices where rather high. Then I stumbled up on uShip and decided to try it out and listed my shipment. The offers I got were about 30-50% lower than I had gotten before. The fist shipper I accepted an offer from turn out not to be able to hold his end of the bargain so I had to cancel the shipment. But I decided not to give up and listed my shipment again and got an offer from carbajaling that turned out to be a dream shipper, quick to respond to e-mails, was able to work out the details of pickup and delivery, make a schedule that worked out and pack the motorcycles very well in a container. My recommendations after my first uShip deal: List your shipment in good time Read carefully the feedback bidding shippers have Ask questions and take note of quickness to respond and how professional they are. Ask especially about experience with the type of goods you are shipping and how he secures the items and insures. Be as clear as possible about your needs, that is time frame, both on pickup and delivery, situations at pickup and delivery locations and your possible worries regarding the shipment or handling of items. If you pay an additional down payment get very clear answers when this payment is not refundable. After you accept an offer establish a schedule, date and time for both pickup and delivery. Ask the shipper every other day or with regular intervals if everything is okay and if any question marks are regarding the schedule. Ask the shipper to inform you when he has made the pickup and delivery. Pay the shipper promptly and give him the feedback that you feel he deserves. Do not hesitate to spell our good and bad points as both points help a dedicated shipper. Regards Ragnar
