My wife asked me to build her a cedar chest for Christmas.  Right!  I did look into cost of materials and expected time to build.  Would have invested over $500 in time/materials to get it done and probably ended up with something that looked like Bob the Builder's apprentice made it.  So, I started looking for one at furniture dealers.  Except for the junk that you put together yourself, the things cost plenty.  I then turned to E-Bay.  Turned out that all of the units I was interested in went for more than I was willing to spend until the week before Thanksgiving.  I was successful bidding on an antique 1937 Lane Cedar Chest - winning it for $175 - a steal.  Only problem, it was in Philadelphia, PA.  I live in Bristol, IN.  How was I going to get it home? ; I didn't want to drive all the way there to pick it up.  A searched the net for shipping companies - saw the U-Ship site but didn't quite understand what it was all about so I called a few of the others.  Cheapest price I could find was $140 but I had to have the unit packaged and loaded.  That would have cost another 50 - 100.  I was bummed!!  That's when I went back to U-Ship.  Followed the directions and created an account.  Figured out how to list my shipment and then waited.  I got two responses the next day.  Price too high. ; Third one was out of sight - almost $500 - couldn't believe it!!! ; Then a day or so later, Michael Johnson submitted a bid for $125. ;   This was a little higher than I wanted to pay but within reason.  I accepted and the match was made. ; I was very pleased at how well the communications went between Mike and myself.  We settled on a date to deliver and true to his word, Mike delivered!!  He took great care of my cedar chest ; I couldn't be more pleased.  And . . . I'm sure my wife will be surprised.  Thanks, U-Ship!
