"3000 miles, through the mountains, in a Canadian winter when highways are being closed.... "
shipping from Paris, Ontario, Canada Port Angeles, Washington for $1,783.63
Ron likes to get paid by milestones and as someone who manages large contracts, I know that is the norm but was caught off guard by it - It certainly make sense over a long trip as the Shipper doesn't get hammered with a deposit of thousands of dollars while the transporter doesn't have as big a risk when he completes a job only to get told all the money can't be paid to him. I had gotten ripped off by another shipper who took $1075 (Luzerne Super service out of Michigan) and then never did the job so Ron's performance was really appreciated particularly when the storage facility had put the Boat in a place that was inaccessible despite my repeated emails and phone calls that the Transporter was coming to pick it up. Rather than just abandon the job, Ron hired a tow truck to get it out and positioned and then quite rightly billed me. I like that kind of pro-active thinking. Across Canada in the winter when highways are being closed from Ontario to Alberta, thrugh the mountains and delivering it in good time and in good shape took a lot of work and careful planning - it was a damned good job!
