I had planned to fly to Rochester with my daughter and drive back with her to California. However, her car is small, I have a bum right foot (ok for 1-3 hour drives), and I was going to have to take 3 extra days off work.
When I looked into shipping via UShip, I discovered that the typical gas/mileage reimbersement (which factors in wear and tear on car), food, and motel costs equalled the cost of shipping. I decided to spend 3 days in NYC and celebrate the move with my daughter. We had a great time, it saved wear and tear on my body, and I didn't have to miss any more days off work.
