I was prepared to drive to Ohare, fly to Denver, get a cab, find the truck and drive it back to Illinois. Covering approximately 1000 miles with air fare, cab, and gasoline would cost about $500.
In addition would cost me at least two full days away from my small business.
I choose to list the truck on uship with a meager $400 estimate.
I had several bids of $700 to $850 which may be fair but felt someone might be out there who simply wanted to avoid a "deadhead" trip back to Illinois.
I was lucky to find a shipper who needed just that.... cover the fuel cost with 3 units coming back to Illinois area. Shipping the 5400 lb truck cost about $500 and was done far faster than I could have done it! Never hurts to ask and see who might be willing!
Will keep this fellas card and use him again in a minute!
