"1962 Jeep Willys Maverick - San Antonio to Austin"
shipping from San Antonio, Texas Austin, Texas for $145.00
About a year ago 15 friends and I pooled our money together to buy a green 1962 Jeep Willys Maverick on Ebay. This car had huge sentimental value to all of us, as our deceased friend Brad Ruhmann used to drive it in high school. His parents kept the car in good condition over the years but they wanted to lighten their load and they put it up for auction. We secretly bought the Jeep and surprised them...they were really happy. So were we.
At first we kept the Jeep in San Antonio in one of the co-owners garage but a lot of us now live in Austin and want to drive it this spring. We didn't think it would make the drive on the highway, and none of us own a flatbed trailer. We were trying to figure out our options when my brother suggested UShip. "Of course! Why didn't I think of that?" was my reaction.
Put it up for bid on Thursday afternoon and by the next morning I had 5 bids to consider. None of them were going to work out because I was asking for pickup and delivery over the weekend and our target price was just $175. Then Jeff's bid came through for $145 and he could promise Saturday pickup/delivery. Talked it over with my crew and we decided to go for it.
Jeff met us on time down in San Antonio and helped us pull the Jeep (wouldn't start b/c dead battery) out of the garage and down the driveway where he loaded it on his truck, back end first. We noticed some gas dripped out at that angle so Jeff offered to take it off and reload it front end first. This fixed the problem. Good service.
Jeff showed up on several hours later in Austin (he was trying to line up another bid) and offloaded the car. He helped me physically push it down the driveway which was nice. Paid him and thanked him and that was it.
Overall my Uship experience was very positive. Using the site was very easy and I didn't have any hiccups learning how to do it. I think the prices are reasonable and I foresee us using UShip anytime we need to get the Jeep moved long distances.
