I decided I needed a log splitter. So I searched a variety of web sites and found a used Timberwolf (which is the brand I wanted), but I live in Massachusetts and the splitter was in Tampa (try to find one used in New England !). I negotiated a price for the splitter knowing I would have to have it shipped and arrived at a price that I was comfortable with. Then before I finalized the offer, I searched for shipping costs on the web. When I got a few estimates, I thought I was done, since with those prices, it made more sense to buy a new splitter. The average price I had before uShip was about $650, with a high of $900. But then I found uShip and thought "awesome, I'll give it a try and see what happens". I got 3 offers ($800, and 2 at $400) within an hour, and I was at the point of calling it quits, because my total price was still higher than I wanted. Then, because he had a job near the beginning and end of my job, the shipper I ended up using lowered his price. I lowered my offer on the splitter and ended up getting a really great deal. I went into the transaction a little blind, since I didn't know the seller, and didn't look at the splitter before I agreed to buy it AND they wanted cash only. I didn't know the shipper, but I took a chance and he took my cash to the seller, picked up the splitter and delivered it to me in 5 days. He handled getting me a receipt, all the documents that went with the machine and made sure it worked before he paid (just like I would have done !) He communicated throughout the entire process. Bottom line is that I ended up getting my wood splitter for less than half of what a new one goes for including shipping. I had to put some trust in the deal, but I'm glad I did and knowing that my shipper was listed with uShip gave me some relief when I handed him the cash for the machine. I would recommend uShip for any shipping needs based on my experience.
