My task was to relocate an older car with plenty of remaining use (a 1991 Acura Integra with 30,300 miles on it belonging to a real "Little Old Lady from Pasadena", my 97-year-old mother) from California to North Carolina.
Never having shipped a car before, I tried to estimate the time/expense cost of driving it across the country myself with a co-driver. (20 or 30 years ago I would have done it alone myself in a heartbeat). When I saw how much that was, shipping crossed my mind. Looking in the Yellow Pages was not helpful, but a friend of my daughter-in-law who has connections to shipping machines suggested I try www.uship.com as a possibility.
What a find! The process was easy to use, there was plenty of helpful background information on the site, and I was easily led through the process of listing my needs. I soon had several bid choices to select among.
I selected a bid from WillHaulIt.com and was completely satisfied by their professional level of communication, promptness, and personal attention. My car was picked up on time, shipped quickly and safely, and delivered as close to my home as a big rig could (since I live on a narrow cul-de-sac), to a local supermarket parking lot.
The cost of the move was within 15% of my estimates for driving it (gas, meals, lodging, etc) and that didn't include the time, labor, and particularly stress I avoided. How did we ever get along without the Internet? I'll certainly head to uShip again if the need should arise.
