"Ship car to kid in college"
shipping from Bellevue, Washington Lewiston, Maine for $770.00
Here in Washington (State) we have a problem with poor higher education resources for our kids. So we export them to colleges even on the east coast. In my case my college kid won a fellowship to stay in Maine for th summer and needed a car for field work. So she wanted her old man's car. First option was to fly her and 3 friends across the country to drive Seattle-to-Maine and pay for their expenses. That was nixed when they wanted to take a "detour" to Memphis. But I found DAS who first provided a door-to-door bid that was high. Further investigation found a terminal-to-terminal option that basically cut the price in half. So we drove the car from Seattle to Tacoma and left it at a "terminal." Two weeks later the car arrived at a "terminal" on the outskirts of Boston that was accessible with public transportation (the T to a bus to one mile walk) and my kid picked it up there and drove it the remaining 100+ miles to college. Safer and cheaper than a road trip with 3 college kids out to see the country but only having less than a week between terms. Sorry Elvis, no visit to Memphis.
