42 years ago, my great grandmother gave my mom, her granddaughter, the dresser my mother had always used while staying at her grandmother's house. It was a beautiful little dresser with glass knobs and little swivel mirror on top. It was already an antique when given to my mother. My mom cherished this dresser and it was a constant in my childhood. Several years ago my dad was laid off from his job. Facing losing their home, my father accepted a transfer with his job several states away. We had little money and less time to pack, move and get relocated for my father to start his new job. We could only take the essentials in the moving truck and with 3 kids, that didn't leave much room for 'non-essentials'. My mom's dresser from her grandmother was a casualty of this move and sold in a moving sale along with most of our household items that just wouldn't fit into the little moving van. My mom was heartbroken but did what she had to do for the sake of our family. She always regretted having to sell her grandmother's dresser and I missed that piece of my childhood that had always been a constant reminder of our link to the past and my great grandmother I never met. Then a week or so ago, I saw it! The exact same kind (maybe even the same dresser) on eBay!
