I am heading to S. America for a year and opted to sell everything... except the motorcycle. I couldn't part with that. The car, yes, the bike... no. I am storing my bike at my sister's house in Colorado, but I currently live in California. Little too cold and snowy to ride it there at this time of year. I looked at traditional shipping companies and found very high prices. Someone on Craigslist turned me onto uship.com and I placed my bike and a few boxes up for bid. Jay (jabbru on uship) with Evergreen Motorsports was not the lowest bid, but he has been on uship for close to two years with a positive rating, has an enclosed trailer and lives in Colorado, so I assumed he new how to drive the area in winter. Good assumption because after he picked up my bike the following week was a wet one on California and a snowy one in Colorado and surrounding states. My bike made it to Colorado just fine, but the roads were bad enough that Jay couldn't immediately deliver it. He stored it for a short time, contacted my sister and made arrangements to deliver it during a break in the weather. I think I saved about $400 using Uship and I am grateful for online communities such as these because it makes it easier to find providers, especially when pennies count.
