Hi,
I just had a $120K sports car shipped from Florida to Houston (1300 mile trip). I received quotes for transportation from the dealership in Florida where I bought the car, and the companies they were using were $500 higher than the ones I received on uShip. Also the transporter I ended up with on uShip was a single car trailer, as opposed to the bigger ones where your car is being rolled on and off several times as they pick up or deliver other cars on the way. I made a deal with the transporter for a latest acceptable delivery day, and offered him a bonus of $100 a day for every day before the latest delivery date, and also had him accept a deduction of the same amount if he deliverd late. This turned out to be a good incentive, he delivered the car in just two days, and I still saved enough money to pay for both my plane ticket and hotel when I went over from Houston to Ft Lauderdale to check out the car before I bought it. This shows that by shopping for shipping on the internet you can actually make money from buying a car out of state even if you want to inspect the car before purchase and have travel and accommodation costs. If felt kind of strange to leave my expensive Italian Sports car with someone who for me was only a name on the internet, but by checking the shippers feedback I felt confident that the few negative ones were not his fault. I usually judge people not by their problems, but how they handle them when they occur. My shipper was USAKA, and it felt reassuring when he called once he had picked up the car and also kept me informed of his progress along the way. He was using a single car enclosed trailer, and that meant that my car was his single focus all the way (which is of course what all car owners want).
Overall a great concept!
