I own a 47 foot wooden boat. I needed to move it inland to have it restored. I tried conventional channels of getting it shipped but they didn't work out. One problem was getting a true weight on the boat. We initally thought it weighed 14 tons. When the travelift at the marina went to hoist it we found out the true weight - 27 tons - 54,000 pounds. This made getting the right shipper all the more difficult. I posted the job on uShip and had lots of activity right away! I had my choice of shippers. The company I chose, Yatchsalvage, was great. They had a hydraulic transporter that handled over 40 tons - perfect for the job. No need for a crane at the destination, which saved me lots of money. They had the boat loaded by 9, at the destination by 12 noon and off loaded and set up by 1:30 pm. So now the ark is at its destination and the work can begin. I could not be happier with my uShip experience.
